Fossil Springs / Fossil Creek Trail
near Strawberry, Arizona
6:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Fossil Springs Trail: This rugged route drops a little more than 1,300 feet down to the riparian oasis formed by several strong springs. This moderate-to-strenuous, 7-mile round-trip hike is one of Arizona's most popular summer hiking spots. This is a "down-then-back-up" hike that rewards sun-drenched hikers with a cool and shaded respite on the shaded banks of Fossil Creek.
The trail begins in the high desert above the canyon where we'll see flora like scrub oak, juniper, manzanita, and cliff rose.
Escape the heat of early Phoenix summer and cool off in Fossil Creek as we lunch on the banks, lounge in the sun, or even jump into crystal clear, blue-green 72-degree water. Trail has been described as strenuous, but even beginning hikers will enjoy this event because we will hike at a leisurely pace. Estimated hiking time: 5 -6 hours including rest and lunch breaks. Detailed hike logistics and information will be included in confirmation materials, so sign up today!
